“In quest’Italia a diverse velocità – si legge nella nota firmata dai primi cittadini e sostenuta con forza anche dalla deputazione regionale e nazionale del territorio – , il PNRR è stato pensato per riequilibrare i divari economici che da lungo tempo dividono il nord dal sud. In questo senso il territorio etneo, da anni chiede con forza e rigore la trasformazione del servizio di trasporto esercitato dalla linea ferrata della Ferrovia Circumetnea in una moderna linea con caratteristiche metropolitane. Il PNRR rappresenta un’occasione unica, forse l’ultima di tali proporzioni, per lo sviluppo delle infrastrutture del territorio etneo. In quest’ottica, il progetto di completamento della metropolitana di Catania con la realizzazione della tratta Misterbianco-Paternò, garantirà un servizio efficiente esteso non solo al contesto urbano catanese ma anche ad un’ampia parte del territorio etneo.”
